President's Note - March 2020

Dear Members:

I want to thank you for the dedication and trust you put into our learning community. The SEWI-ATD Board, like you, have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and the precautions we all must make for the health and safety of our loved ones and community.

In respect to all of you as our members, SEWI-ATD is canceling all face-to-face activities events through the end of May. Some will be held virtually online.

  • The March 25 “Talent Matters” event with MMAC will be rescheduled.
  • The April 10 “Next Gen Talent Development” event and the May 8 “The New Emotional Intelligence” events will either be rescheduled or hosted as online events.
  • We will share further details on our event plans as we learn more about the situation.

Connections and learning are vital to our chapter, and although we cannot meet in person, we are exploring alternative options. Please know we are committed to finding and implementing creative and accessible options. We will be planning a variety of virtual learning opportunities for the upcoming months.

There are also several great web-based member benefits available to you now:

  • View articles and blogs on our website
  • We will be posting weekly conversation starters on our LinkedIn page, starting with today’s question – “How is your organization addressing learning during the coronavirus situation?” Come chat with us on these weekly social media threads.
  • National ATD offers many free articles, videos, and reports on, such as these resources on virtual training design and facilitation. National members get access to even more great documents and tools. SEWI-ATD members save $30 on national membership, so consider joining if you haven’t already. Catch up on some reading and learn something new.

As a nonprofit association, we rely heavily on your participation and support. We welcome your ideas and contributions as we navigate this space together. In particular, we are eager to hear from members who can offer their expertise in digital learning, blended facilitation, and remote work. Over the next few months, organizations will need a wide variety of assistance, from contractors able to support their online offerings to experienced practitioners who can recommend tools and techniques. Please reply to this email to let us know how you can assist, and we will work to gather those resources for our community.

On behalf of the SEWI-ATD Board of Directors, thank you for your continued participation in our chapter. Please take care of yourself, your family, and each other.
